Published - Monday, May 19, 2008 Separate motorcycle crashes result in two deaths A La Crosse man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Crawford County and an Iron Mountain, Mich., man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Vernon County, both on Saturday. William R. Norman, 60, La Crosse, was westbound on Hwy. 82 in Freeman Township, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department. He was passing a vehicle on the left when he lost control of his motorcycle at 3:51 p.m. The motorcycle slid 320 feet. Norman was ejected from the cycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Crawford County Coroner Joe Morovits. Dale Wahlstrom, 65, Iron Mountain, Mich., was operating a motorcycle westbound on Hwy. 33 when he lost control negotiating a curve at 10:56 a.m., according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department. Wahlstrom’s motorcycle slid into the eastbound lane and struck an oncoming vehicle driven by Daniel Coggon, 27, La Farge. Coggon and a passenger in his vehicle were uninjured. Wahlstrom was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro by the Ontario Ambulance. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Both accidents are still under investigation. Wahlstrom’s death marks the third motor vehicle fatality in Vernon County in 2008.
