Snowflake Junior Jump on Sunday

The Snowflake Junior Ski Jump Tournament will be held this Sunday, Jan. 11, in Timber Coulee.

The 10, 20, 40 and 65 meter hills will be open for training at 9 a.m. and the tournament will begin at noon. The awards ceremony will be at 3 p.m.

Last year youth jumpers from Wisconsin, Michegan, Illionois and Minnesota traveled to Westby to attend the junior jump, which even featured a couple local jumpers, Kayla and Brendan Buros, the children of Craig and Jennifer Buros of Westby.

This year’s event is one of the qualifying events for the Junior Olympics and should attract junior skiers from the Central Division consisting of Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Colerain, Ishpeming, Iola, Madison and Eau Claire ski clubs.

The hills will be open on Saturday, Jan. 10, for training.

The event is sponsored by the Snowflake Royalty and the Snowflake Ski & Golf Club.
